Brian Head Photography

About the Artist:
Born in 1978, Brian Head began his fascination and love of the water during childhood. As a lifetime Gulf Coast native, he was always captivated by nature’s beauty - particularly the water, which has been the inspiration in many of his pieces. Brian is a prolific artist with many paintings, sketches, and gyotaku, but is most recognized for his exceptional photography. Known for his attention to detail, eye for beautiful composition, and ability to capture once in a lifetime moments, his photography is loved by many divers, artists, and lovers of nature.
Brian’s pursuit of photography was driven by a love for free diving and spear fishing. As an award winning spear fisherman; he has travelled to many countries to compete in tournaments, being part of the winning team in The La Paz Blue Water World Cup Invitational in 2011 and winning the biggest fish award in an Omer competition in 2007. Brian was also recognized on the TV series Speargun Hunter during the 2013 diving competition in La Paz. Splitting his time between spearing and capturing pictures, he has earned the respect of many fellow divers. Brian’s work has been recognized on the cover of Spearing Magazine on two occasions, printed in Hawaiian Skin Diver magazine, showcased on the TV show Gulf South Outdoors, and also used in the popular Salt Life campaign as well as appearing in several international diving magazines. He has credited spearfishing for opening the doors to some of his most cherished friendships and unforgettable experiences.
Brian’s portfolio contains images from all over the United States and also internationally; including: Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Indonesia, South Korea, Mexico, the Bahamas, and even Fiji. Brian currently captures his breathtaking images with a Canon 5D3 with Nauticam housing, and Sea & See 10’’ dome port and strobe. With a variety of images including landscapes, wildlife, color, black and white, and underwater- his work truly provides something for everyone. We hope his work intrigues and inspires you as much as it does us.
